Privacy policy
Last updated 25 October 2026
Unibook (theunibook.in and the Unibook Business app) lets customers book appointments with local businesses and lets business owners manage those bookings. It is run by Eliyas Mathew, an individual based in Kochi, Kerala, India (“Unibook”, “we”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your mobile number, to create your account and log you in with a one-time code. Codes expire after 5 minutes.
- Your name, if you give it, so businesses know who is coming.
- Your bookings: the business, service, staff member, date and time, any note you add, and the booking’s status (for example confirmed, cancelled or completed).
- Business details, if you list a business: its name, category, address, phone number, description, services and prices, staff names and working hours. These are shown publicly on the business’s booking page.
- A notification token, if you use the Unibook Business app and allow notifications, so we can alert you about new bookings.
- Technical logs kept by our servers and hosting providers, such as IP address, device and browser type, and the pages or features used, for security and troubleshooting.
On the website, your login is kept in your browser’s local storage so you stay logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not show ads.
How we use it
- To log you in and keep your account secure.
- To make, show and manage bookings, and to stop two people booking the same slot.
- To tell business owners about new bookings, and to send you login codes and booking messages.
- To run, fix and improve Unibook, and to prevent misuse.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- The business you book with sees your name, mobile number, the booking and any note, so it can serve you and contact you about the appointment. It keeps these in its booking history.
- Service providers that run parts of Unibook for us, only for that purpose: Microsoft Azure (servers and database, in India), Vercel (website hosting), Expo and Google Firebase (app notifications), Meta WhatsApp (login codes and booking messages) and Zoho (email).
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside India, under their own security and privacy commitments.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account and login within 30 days. A business keeps the record of your past appointments with it, including your name and mobile number, as part of its own customer history. Technical logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself: on the website under My bookings → Delete account, or in the Unibook Business app under Account → Delete account. You can also email hello@theunibook.in from any address with the mobile number on the account; we will confirm the request with that number before deleting anything, and finish within 30 days.
Deleting your account cancels your upcoming bookings. Your past bookings stay in the history of the businesses you visited, with your name and mobile number, so they can keep their own records. To have a business remove them, ask the business, or write to us and we will help.
Business owners: deleting your account also removes your business from Unibook. Upcoming bookings are cancelled, so please let your customers know first.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct or update it, delete it, and withdraw consent (which may mean closing your account). Write to hello@theunibook.in. We reply within 30 days.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is stored on secured servers. Login codes and session tokens are short-lived. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us at hello@theunibook.in if you notice anything wrong.
Children
Unibook is meant for people aged 18 and over. Someone younger should use it only with a parent or guardian, who makes the booking.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app or on the website when the change matters.
Contact and grievances
Questions, requests and complaints about your data go to our grievance officer, Eliyas Mathew, at hello@theunibook.in. Unibook, Kochi, Kerala, India. See also our terms of use and contact page.
